To Be (or Not to Be) Online
Social media has become the default for any business or person trying to market themselves. How has this affected our self worth––and our incomes?
Note: When I first set out to research for and write this post, I imagined I’d find and focus on a cute little candle company who’s killing it without promoting themselves on Instagram. I tried to find such a company, but I couldn't. Everyone is on social media in some capacity (yes, Substack is social media, which I’ll get into later)—probably because it has become one of the fastest, easiest, and cheapest ways to reach a large audience. I have 234K Instagram followers, and whenever I’m looking for leads on a story for Offline Time, like this one, I ask my IG audience because it’ll cast the widest net. It has become one of the leading ways we communicate in the world.
