So excited for you!! I always pack my film on my carry-on and ask TSA to hand-check it :)

That bird story is cray! I have a lifelong phobia of being crashed into by birds…as a result it’s happened several times!! A bird even crashed through the open window of a car I was in and sadly died at the feet of my small (at the time) sons in the back seat. I literally jumped out of the moving car!! Anyway, your stories and insights are vivid and moving. I’m your mom’s age and I love how youthful and full of fun she looks!

I recently cleaned out my mom (died 9 years ago) and step-dads (died recently) home and went through everything they accumulated in their life, it was a lot of work, both physically and emotionally, to sift through a whole life, often also sorting through my own life too. In some ways I am grateful for the ritual of it all, even though it’s been so hard.

Love this. It really is so emotional to go through a whole life of someone’s, especially a parent. Good on you!

I’ve recently returned from Florence and had bought a film camera especially for my trip. I had researched a bit prior, but was told that the film would be fine. On my flight out, I was made to remove the film I had already inserted, which meant it was wasted. I’d suggest keeping the film separate for them to scan until you arrive, then removing the film on the way back. Hope you have an amazing time!

Ahhh good to know — that would’ve crushed me 😅 Appreciate the heads up! Definitely keeping mine unloaded ‘til I land.

I was so gutted as I couldn’t get it loaded again when I’d landed, so I didn’t get any photos whilst there! 🙃

In my experience film is okay to go through security scanner as long as it’s not one of the huge CT scanners! But you can always hand check your camera to be safe

Last June I had beef with a bird that kept flying back and forth at my head. Still get nervous around birds now!!!!
