Great article in the NYT. Thank you for speaking about these important topics with such thoughtfulness and nuance. I've followed you for many years and I respect you so much for prioritizing your health and your values, and for staying true to yourself. I quit social media last summer and it was one of the best things I could have done for my mental and emotional health. I wish you all the best. You are brilliant and have a lot to offer the world.

Oh, how I feel this: the “feeling that I need to *~CaPitAliZe~* on the coverage and the pressure to become the face of this ‘movement.’” I have retreated from the space of online entrepreneurship because social media just started to feel so gross. Instead, I started a Substack to write about my life, including challenges with infertility and mental health, and exploring adoption through foster care. But anytime we put ourselves out there to share our story, there does seem to be this tacit pressure to become the face of a movement. And yet, building an identity around to doing one thing is exactly what we are trying to escape from as writers!

Congratulations, Lee! I imagine this must feel wildly full-cirlce. Keep doing you! I hear you on the pressure to CaPiTaLiZe on the amazing opportunity and look forward to seeing how it unfolds for you. It's relatable, as I had the opportunity to write a feature piece on the life and loss of my 7-year-old son for Outside Magazine recently. It was indeed the opportunity of a lifetime to share his beautiful story, but the pressure of *making the most of it* amidst grieving has been a lot. Idk, what's ours is meant to be ours.. I've set the hustle down with your story (and others) in mind. It's not worth it! Thank you for sharing this piece of your story with us. Much love!

Just saw your article! I went through something similar. I used to run the travel channel Vagabrothers until 2020. Now I’m here on Substack and writing a book. It’s been a journey. It would be great to interview you for my Substack if you’re open to it.

What a great article in NYT, Lee! I enjoyed the read.

It made me wonder what your digital hygiene in general looks like these days - you mentioned the Substack app and how the internet continues to be... well, the internet, no matter the platform. I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on this.
