“The advantage ... is that I didn’t have the contamination of opinion” WOW! 👏

Hi Lee, just a reaction about you asking to get a paid subscription to support your work: I was a paid suscriber some months ago but there was a trouble with my credit card and a payment "by month" never worked for me... It seemed to be a Substack issue, don't have this with other subscriptions 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had to stop supporting you against my will 🥺

I thought this was really interesting, particularly the viewpoint from the woman who assumed you were interviewing her because of her age. Something she said that stood out to me was along the lines of media being more curated in the past -- there was a barrier of entry for writers to get space in print. I think in some ways influencer culture has been good in that way because it allows people who have been historically excluded by gatekeeping media to share their voice to a wide platform. Obviously there are downsides too, like misinformation being spread, etc. Good episode!

Yes yes, I understand the woman's point, but also was thinking the same thing you shared - that it has taken away many layers of gatekeeping it took for some voices to be heard, and that's a good thing. I feel like the responsibility of evaluating the legitimacy of a viewpoint has shifted heavily to the person consuming the media, rather than on the traditional publisher. I think that's where things get murky; because humans don't seem to be too good at sifting through everything as there is no way to truly evaluate the motives behind the all voices being shared. The volume of information is just firehose level, its overwhelming.

I don’t understand how we can all subscribe to ppls individual work. this isn’t against your request, I get it, but I know for me. I can only subscribe to one substack at a time. How many do u support on your current budget ?
